How It Runs

From First CallTo Handover.

How a typical weatherboard painting job runs, start to finish.

Repairs and painting priced clearly so there are no surprises later.

Prepare the surface

Washing, scraping, sanding and priming come first, always.

Paint and inspect

Topcoats go on evenly and the finished walls are checked with you.

Weatherboards reward care and punish shortcuts

A weatherboard house can look spectacular when it is freshly painted, and shabby when the paint lets go. The difference is almost never the paint. It is whether the boards were washed, scraped, sanded and primed before the colour went on.

Timber moves with the weather, old paint chalks and peels, and gaps open at joints and boards. Painting over that locks the problem in. Prime Painting Experts prepares weatherboards properly, so the new finish protects the timber instead of hiding it.

What is included

Full wash and scrape. Dirt, mould, chalking and loose paint removed so the new coating bonds to sound material.

Repairs and gap filling. Damaged sections repaired, gaps filled, and nails set before painting.

Priming bare timber. Any board sanded back to bare timber is primed before topcoats, so suction and tannin do not spoil the finish.

Even topcoats, clean edges. Boards painted evenly with careful cutting in at windows, corners and trims.

Peeling boards

Peeling is the most common weatherboard problem we see. The fix is to scrape and sand back to a sound edge, prime the bare timber, and repaint. It takes longer than painting over the top, and it is the only version that lasts.

Common Enquiries

Questions AboutWeatherboard Painting.

Straightforward answers to the questions we get asked most often.

Yes. Peeling paint is scraped and sanded back to a sound edge, bare timber is primed, and then the topcoats go on. Painting straight over peeling paint just locks the problem in, so the preparation is where the time goes.
